VILLANOVA, Pa. - The Villanova Wildcats were NCAA Division I's top team in Save Percentage.
The NCAA recently verified this statistical note. With redshirt sophomore
Carson Williams (Plano, Tex.)in net for every minute of the 2019 season and a central defense anchored by seniors
Shane Bradley and
Luca Mellor,, the Wildcats posted the nation's top save percentage (.849).
The top five teams by percentage were: Villanova (.848),Lehigh (.839), Virginia (.833), NCAA national champion Georgetown (.831) and SMU.
Williams logged all 1664:32 in goal for the Wildcats in 2019. He allowed only 14 goals on 92 shots (78 saves). The Wildcats goals against average was a tidy 0.76.
Villanova finished the season with a 9-8-1 record and Williams was the goals against average leader in Philly Soccer Six action. It is currently in the spring portion of its schedule working towards a 2020 regular season that gets underway in August.
