Villanova Set to Host Lafayette on Wednesday for 2020 Home Opener

VILLANOVA, Pa. — After playing 27 games on the road to start the season, Villanova is finally going to get the chance to play on its home field. The Wildcats host Lafayette on Wednesday, March 11 at 4:00 p.m. for the 23rd time since 1999. Villanova is 17-5 against the Leopards in that span, including a mark of 8-2 at home.

A Look at Villanova: The Wildcats are coming off of a weekend in California where they played seven games in four days, going 3-4 with wins against San Diego State once and Mount St. Mary's twice. Although BIG EAST play has not begun yet, the Wildcats are leading the conference in 10 offensive categories, including runs scored, hits and RBIs. Villanova now has an overall record of 14-13.

A Look at Lafayette: The Leopards head into Wednesday's matchup with a 1-11 overall record and the losers of four straight. During that stretch, Lafayette is getting outscored 26-8. Their lone win of the season game against Kent State in a 10-9 decision on March 6. Throughout the season, Lafayette has hit .209 with 53 hits and 32 runs. Natasha Miner has led the offense, hitting .294 with 10 hits and 2 runs. Pitching has also been a problem for the Leopards, as they boast a team ERA of 10.33.
