BOCA RATON, Fla. — The Villanova softball team lost twice at the Joan Joyce Classic at FAU Softball Stadium Saturday night.
The 'Cats (0-14) lost to Kansas (10-6) 4-1 to start the day.
Carly Zych (L, 0-1) pitched the longest outing of her career, going six innings, walking two and giving up four runs (three earned) on seven hits.
Villanova scored first in the contest on an
Elizabeth Gray RBI single in the top of the second that scored
Jaclyn Morra. With her fourth run scored, Morra sits in second on the team.
The Jayhawks responded in the bottom of the second before taking the lead in the bottom of the fifth.
Heading into the sixth leading 2-1, Kansas added two more runs before closing out the Wildcats.
VU ended the day with a 9-1 loss to FAU (10-5) in five innings.
Lexi Kobryn (L, 0-6) picked up her fifth start of the season, pitching an inning and giving up seven runs (five earned) on seven hits.
The Owls got out to an early read with a four-run first inning before adding three more in the bottom of the second.
