Wildcats Drop Fourth Straight at Harvard

This was Villanova's lowest scoring game since falling to No. 15 Denver on May 2, 2019 5-15

Box Score CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Wildcats (2-5) fell on the road at Harvard (3-3) 16-5 on Saturday afternoon in the team's fourth straight loss. The loss was the biggest of the season for Villanova, with a 11 goal differential between the two teams.
 
Villanova struggled offensively throughout the whole game, scoring just three goals in the first half.
 
The outing was the lowest-scoring game of the season for Villanova, and the team's lowest score since the Wildcats fell to No. 15 Denver on May 2, 2019 5-15. The team had not lost four straight games since the 2017 season.
 
On offense, the Wildcats were led by senior attack Katie Comerford who had three goals, her fourth three-goal game or better this season.
 
Junior attack Brittany Bruno and sophomore midfielder Alexa Tsahalis each tallied goals of their own, while senior attack Ashley Lynch had a team-high two assists.
 
Junior attack Taylor Lucey had her first point and appearance of the season, recording an assist on Tsahalis' goal.
 
Almost all of the statistical categories in the game favored the Crimson.
 
Harvard had the 36-23 advantage on shots, a 14-8 advantage on draw controls, a 16-13 advantage on ground balls and made four free position shots on eight attempts.
 
Villanova was 0-3 on free position shots in the game.
 
In the net, sophomore goalkeeper Alexa Moro made 12 saves.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
 
Villanova went down 2-0 to start the game, before scoring three straight goals, two from Comerford and one from Tsahalis, to earn its first lead of the day at 3-2.
 
The Crimson then went on a 5-0 run to go into halftime with a 7-3 lead over the Wildcats.
 
Comerford scored the first goal of the second half off a pass from Lynch to cut the Crimson's lead to three.
 
Bruno scored the last goal of the game, which was man-down, for the Wildcats with a little over 16 minutes left into the game.
 
Villanova was outscored 11-2 in the final 30 minutes of play, and didn't score any goals in the last 16 minutes.
 
Harvard had four players that recorded hat tricks or better.
 
Villanova is now 0-2 in the all-time series against the Crimson.

The Wildcats return home for a matchup against local rival Temple on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. at Villanova Stadium.
