VILLANOVA NAMES RICK NEFF AS STAFF PSYCHOLOGIST/ STUDENT-ATHLETE SPECIALIST

-- Neff Is Set To Join The University Counseling Center Staff Later This Month --

VILLANOVA, Pa. – Villanova today announced the hiring of Dr. Richard (Rick) Neff in the newly created position of Staff Psychologist – Student-Athlete Specialist. Dr. Neff is a licensed clinical psychologist who specializes in working with student-athletes. He is expected to join the full-time staff at the University Counseling Center in late January.

"Dr. Neff will be an incredible resource for the student-athletes across all of our 24 sports. We are keenly aware of the many challenges facing student-athletes today as they strive for success in academics and athletics. Adding Dr. Neff is a huge benefit to the Villanova Community."

Dr. Neff attended Immaculata University, where he earned a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (2014) and a Master's Degree in Counseling Psychology (2008), and Penn State University where he earned his Bachelor's Degree in Bio-Evolutionary Psychology in 2002.  A former college baseball player and standout three sport athlete in high school, Dr. Neff is well attuned to the culture of college athletics. His work will add greatly to the many support services available to the Villanova students.
