Forrest Rhyne Recognized For Career-Best Performance at James Madison

Graduate student linebacker named CAA Football Defensive Player of the Week after recording 20 tackles

Villanova University graduate student linebacker Forrest Rhyne (Waynesboro, Pa.)  has earned the CAA Defensive Player of the Week award along with the College Sports Madness National Player of the Week. Rhyne garners the recognition for his efforts in Saturday's 28-27 win at No. 3 James Madison.

In the victory, Rhyne tallied a career-high 20 tackles, including 17 assisted stops and three solo tackles. The 20 tackles are the fourth most by a FCS player this year and it is the most by a Villanova player since Brian Hulea had 19 tackles during the 2005 season.

Rhyne and the Wildcat defense held James Madison scoreless in the second half, as Villanova rallied from a 27-16 halftime deficit to earn the 28-27 victory.

After five games this season, Rhyne leads the Wildcats in total tackles with 44.

Rhyne and the Wildcats return to action on Saturday, Oct. 16, when Villanova travels to Albany to take on the Great Danes. Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m.
