O’Neill Nets Late Goal as Wildcats Fall at St. John’s

Queens, N.Y.- The Villanova Wildcats fell to the St. John's Red Storm in their final game of the 2021 season 2-1. 

The first half ended with both teams tied at 0.  Ela Kopec came up with three big saves in the opening 45 minutes to keep the Red Storm shutout.  Also, Jane Olcott had a strong shot on goal in the early minutes that was saved. 

St. John's netted their first goal in the 54th minute when Jessica Garziano set up Zsani Kajan.  The Red Storm got on the board again when they scored in the 60th minute this time Nicole Multer and Kajan assisted Nicole Gordon to go up 2-0. 

The Wildcat's were able to get on the board in the 87th minute when the teams leading scorer Chloe O'Neill sent a long shot on target.  Naya Lipkens, St. Johns' keeper, jumped and got a hand on the ball but the shot was to strong and went into the back of the net to make it 2-1, which was the final. 

Villanova finishes the 2021 season 7-11 overall and 1-9 in league play.
