Forrest Rhyne (Waynesboro, Pa.) has been named the CAA Defensive Player of the Week. Rhyne earns the honor for his play in Saturday's 21-13 win at Delaware.
In the victory, Rhyne tallied a game-high 13 tackles and helped the Villanova defense hold the Blue Hens to just 274 yards of total offense. This was the sixth time this year that Rhyne has registered double digit tackles.
Rhyne finished the regular season leading the Wildcats in tackles with 97 to go with 5.5 tackles for loss and 2.5 quarterback sacks.
Villanova (9-2) is the No. 5 national seed in the upcoming NCAA playoffs and will host a second round playoff game against the winner of a first round contest between Sacred Heart (8-3) from the Northeast Conference and Holy Cross (9-2) from the Patriot League. That game will be played at Villanova Stadium on Friday, December 3 at 7 p.m., and will stream live on ESPN+. Each of the top eight seeds received a first round bye, while 16 teams will play first round games on Saturday, November 27.
