VILLANOVA, Pa. – With a pair of victories already on the ledger, the Villanova Wildcats look to extend that momentum Friday afternoon at the Higgins Soccer Complex. The University at Albany will be on West Campus to battle the Wildcats (2-0 overall, 0-0 BIG EAST) in a match that kicks off just after 4 p.m.

This is Villanova's second consecutive matchup with a representative of America East. The 'Cats outlasted Hartford 2-1 on Monday afternoon. Junior forward Lyam MacKinnon (Lausanne, Switzerland), who scored Nova's first goal of the day, drew a foul on the Hawks inside the opposing 18-yard box. Sophomore Jorge Garcia (Atlanta, Ga.) converted the penalty kick at 86:24 to give the 'Cats their second goal.
 
Senior Carson Williams made four saves in goal to pick up his second win of the campaign.
 
The Great Danes come to Villanova with a 1-1 overall record. Albany knocked off Fairfield 1-0 in its season opener on a goal by Haflidi Sigurdarson. The Great Danes then dropped a 3-0 decision at St. John's in their second game of the 2021 fall season.
 
Albany was picked to finish fourth in the preseason America East poll. Hartford, meanwhile, was selected to finish seventh.
 
This is the first of a pair of Labor Day weekend matchups for Villanova. The Wildcats host Yale on Monday at 4 p.m. at the Higgins Soccer Complex.
