RICHMOND, VA. – The CAA Football Conference today announced its weekly football award winners. Villanova grad student quarterback Dan Smith (Leesburg, Va.) was named the Co-Offensive Player of the Week for his efforts in Saturday's 34-27 win over Richmond.
In the victory, Smith completed 26-of-40 for 350 yards and two touchdowns to go with four carries for 19 yards and two scores. Smith led the Wildcats to 21 unanswered points over the final 5:01, scoring on a two-yard run before firing a game-tying 44-yard touchdown pass with 2:02 remaining and a game-winning 47-yard touchdown strike with 38 seconds left on the clock.
With the victory, Smith and the Wildcats improve to 3-0 overall and 1-0 in CAA play.
Villanova returns to action on Saturday, Sept. 25, when the Wildcats travel to University Park to take on the Penn State Nittany Lions. Kickoff is set for noon.
