NEW YORK – For their efforts in wins over Seton Hall and St. John's, junior forward
Maddy Siegrist (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) and grad student forward
Brianna Herlihy (Braintree, Mass.) were honored by the BIG EA ST. Siegrist was named the league's player of the week, while Herlihy earned a spot on the weekly Honor Roll.
In the two wins, Siegrist averaged 25.5 points per game, 10.0 rebounds per contest, 4.0 assists per game and she shot .476 from the field. Her best effort of the week came against St. John's when she tallied 28 points, 11 rebounds and four assists in a 70-68 win. Against Seton Hall on Friday, Siegrist helped her team to a 76-73 victory by registering 23 points, nine rebounds and four assists. In seven games this year, Siegrist is averaging 22.9 points per game and 9.4 rebounds per contest.
Herlihy recorded back-to-back double-doubles in the two victories and averaged 14.5 points per contest and 11.5 rebounds per game, while shooting .522 from the floor. After posting 17 points and 12 rebounds against Seton Hall, she had 12 points and 11 rebounds versus St. John's. Herlihy is currently averaging 11.7 points per game and 8.7 rebounds per contest.
Villanova will put its five-game winning streak on the line against No. 11 Connecticut on Friday, Jan. 7. Tip-off at the Finneran Pavilion is set for 7 p.m.
