Wildcats Hits the Road to Princeton Friday

VILLANOVA, Pa. -- Villanova returns to action on Friday, Nov. 11, with a road game at No. 25 Princeton. Both teams enter play with 1-0 records with Villanova winning at Marist in the season opener and Princeton defeating Temple at home. Tip-off at Jadwin Gymnasium is set for 7 p.m.

In the history of the program, the Wildcats have registered a 67-11 (.858) all-time record against teams from the Ivy League. The 67-11 record includes 45-3 versus Penn, 12-7 against Princeton, 3-0 versus Harvard, 2-0 against Dartmouth, 2-1 versus Brown, and 1-0 against Cornell, Columbia and Yale.

Villanova will play its first seven games away from home and won't play a game at the Finneran Pavilion until hosting Creighton on Dec. 2. The stretch started with Monday's win at Marist and continues with games at Princeton (Nov. 11), Penn (Nov. 17) and Temple (Nov. 20) and three games over Thanksgiving in the Gulf Coast Showcase.

The Wildcats received a big boost in Monday's win over Marist from sophomore center Christina Dalce. In 28 minutes of action, Dalce scored a career-high 13 points, grabbed a career-best 17 rebounds and blocked a career-high five shots. She was 6-of-13 from the field. As a freshman last year, she scored 26 points and tallied 22 rebounds in 13 games.

A big reason behind Villanova's 60-38 season opening win over Marist on Monday night was the Wildcat defensive effort. After leading 37-29 at halftime, Villanova held the Red Foxes to nine second half points on 3-of-24 shooting. Marist managed to score just four points in the third quarter and five in the fourth. The Wildcats finished the game with 12 steals and eight blocked shots. Brooke Mullin and Bella Runyan had four steals each, while Dalce registered five blocks.

Following the trip to Princeton, the Wildcats return to action on Thursday, Nov. 17, when they travel to the Palestra to take on Penn.
