MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Villanova logged eight top-eight finishes, three in the top three, closing out the WVU Invitational with a fourth place showing on Saturday.
Two of Villanova's individual championship final finishes resulted in top three results with
Audrey Pastorek winning the 200 Back (1:56.00) and
Katie White earning runner up in the 200 Fly (1:58.59). The lone relay action of the day resulted in a third place showing for the A team of
Lexi Elkovitch,
Cara Stapleton,
Molly Benson and
Perri Stahl closing the day with a third place showing in the 400 Free Relay (3:22.82).
After landing fifth through both of the first two days, the Wildcats jumped up one spot to finish with 1,066 points.
Pastorek logged her third win of the week with a personal best in the 200 Back, the program's seventh-fastest time. She reset her best time twice during the day, posting the fastest time in prelims at 1:58.39. The junior still sits as the third-fastest performer in team history with that latest swim, shaving over two seconds from her previous best of 1:58.76.
Hannah Wasmuth and
Kaitlin Gravell joined Pastorek in the 200 Back Championship Final, finishing in fourth (1:59.50) and seventh (2:03.05), respectively.
Stapleton threw down a pair of personal bests in the 100 Free, swimming a 50.79 in the prelims before earning fourth at 49.99 in the finals to move into fifth on the program's top performers list. Stahl notched a personal best in seventh at 50.91 while
Lexi Elkovitch finished 10
th at 50.89.
White became the second fastest 200 Fly performer in team history with her runner-up finish. Both her finals time and the 1:58.68 she posted in the prelims now sit as the second and fourth fastest all-time times in the race.
Fellow freshman
Winnie Jalet also made yet another move into the record book on the final day. She recorded the second fastest prelim time with a 2:14.90 in the 200 Breast to become the fifth-fastest performer for Villanova. In the nightcap, she finished third with a time of 2:14.92.
