MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The final day of the WVU Invitational brought four top-five finishes for Villanova, including a 1650 Free win by
Jake McIntyre, to help the team finish sixth at the WVU Invitational on Saturday.
McIntyre's win was one of six Wildcat performances that landed in the program's all-time performers or times lists. Villanova closed the week with 842 team points.
McIntyre led a charge of four Wildcats who all finished in the top 10 of the 1650 Free. The senior posted a winning time of 15:20.52 marking the second fast time in Villanova history. With the finish, he now holds six of the 10 fastest times in program history.
Charlie Hinckley touched fourth in 15:46.95, giving him the sixth fastest time in the record book.
Aubrey Bowles and
Patrick Casey rounded out that top 10 in seventh (16:02.50) and eighth (16:06.30), respectively.
Nolan Danus punched in the fifth fasted 200 Fly in team history with a 1:49.25 that earned him fourth place. His latest finish gives him five of the program's 10 fastest times.
Ryan Maher joined him in the championship final after posting a personal best 1:50.74 in the prelims, allowing him to become the 10
th fastest performer all-time for Villanova. He swam a 1:51.34 in the final that was good enough for seventh.
Maher is also now the eighth fastest 100 Free performer in Villanova history, turning in a personal best 45.94 in Saturday's prelims before finishing 19
th overall in the evening's finals at 46.08.
The 400 Free Relay B squad of
Gavin Jones,
Henry Gingrich,
Alex Hamill and
Patrick Hemingway earned a fifth-place 3:02.42 that marked the fourth fastest time in Villanova history.
Reid Hutcherson,
Sam Randall,
Mikey Thurk and Maher were not far behind, finishing eighth in 3:05.22.
