RICHMOND, VA. – The CAA Football Conference today announced its weekly players of the week and Villanova redshirt freshman linebacker Shane Hartzell (Perkasie, Pa.) has been named the league's Rookie of the Week.
 
Hartzell earns the honor for his play in Saturday's 29-26 win over Delaware in the annual Battle of the Blue game. In the victory, Hartzell tallied 10 tackles, two tackles for loss and a sack. This was the second double digit tackle effort of the season for Hartzell.
 
In 11 games this season, Hartzell led the Wildcats in tackles (74 total), tackles for loss (4) and quarterback sacks (4). He also added a forced fumble.
 
Villanova finished the 2022 season with a 6-5 overall record and a 4-4 CAA mark.
