Pastorek and White Earns Sweeps as Wildcats Edge Explorers

Audrey Pastorek led the team with three individual wins

PHILADELPHIA – Villanova logged eight winning performances on Tuesday, led by Audrey Pastorek's three individual wins, to take down La Salle 151-149 at the Kirk Pool.

Villanova (1-3) picked up six individual wins throughout the meet with La Salle (2-2-1), adding a diving and relay victory.

Both Pastorek and Katie White logged sweeps on the day. Pastorek's came in the butterfly, winning the 100 in 55.84 and the 200 in 2:00.56. White took the 200 Fly by nearly five seconds in 2:02.64 before notching the sweep in the 100 Fly at 56.53. Pastorek tacked on a third win in the 200 IM, touching in 2:01.57.

The 200 Medley Relay team of Pastorek, Winnie Jalet, Lainey Quinones and Perri Stahl won the 200 Medley Relay, posting a time of 1:43.21. Molly Benson added on a win in the 200 Free (1:51.80) Claire Feick posted a winning score in the 1-meter (255.98).

Hannah Wasmuth, Emily Zimmermann, Katie White and Cara Stapleton teamed up for a 1:48.50 finish in the 200 Medley Relay that was good enough for fourth.

All three of Villanova's swimmers in the 1000 Free landed in the top four, led by a 10:26.57 effort from Brenna McLaughlin that landed her second. Pepper Ritchey and Mary Kate Farrell followed her in third (10:35.16, personal best) and fourth (10:48.73), respectively. Ritchey also earned a top-three swim in the 100 Fly, touching third in 58.15.

Villanova had the two fastest times in the 200 Free. Quinones joined Benson atop the board in that one for a 1-2 finish, touching second in 1:52.68. Jalet earned second in both the 100 Breast (1:03.58) and 200 Breast (2:16.49) while Perri Stahl battled for the top spot in the 50 Free. The senior ended up just shy of Emma van Selm, finishing 41-hundredths of a second behind her in 23.91. Stapleton and Quinones were right behind Stahl in third (24.17) and fourth (24.51).

The top three of the 100 Free was separated by seven-tenths of a second with Stapleton finishing second in 51.71. Gravell joined Pastorek in the top three of the 200 Back, posting a 2:06.17. Benson had a chance of adding on a second win in the 500 Free but finished just shy of the lead with a second-place time of 5:00.74.

Feick and Mimi Danzis, making her first appearance for Villanova this season, went 2-3 in 3-meter diving with scores of 238.13 and 217.58, respectively.
