Villanova returns to action after a seven-day break on Wednesday, Dec. 28, with a road game at the Marquette Golden Eagles. The Wildcats enter play with a 10-3 overall record and a 1-1 BIG EAST mark, while Marquette is 9-3 overall and 2-1 in league play. Tip-off at the Al McGuire Center is set for 8 p.m., eastern time.

In Villanova's last outing, the Wildcats tallied an 81-55 home win over the La Salle Explorers.
Maddy Siegrist scored a game-high 31 points and pulled-down a game-best 11 rebounds to lead the Wildcats. She was 11-of-20 from the field and 9-of-9 from the foul line.
Lucy Olsen stuffed the stat sheet with 19 points, eight assists and six rebounds, while
Kaitlyn Orihel had a career-high 18 points, including a 4-of-5 effort from three-point range. Villanova was 30-of-58 from the field (51.7%), 8-of-16 from three-point range (50.0%) and a perfect 13-of-13 from the foul line, while La Salle shot 32.8 percent from the floor (20-of-61), 33.3 percent from behind the arc (6-of-18) and 64.3 percent from the charity stripe (9-of-14). Siegrist has been named the BIG EAST Player of the Week for her performance in the win over La Salle. This is the 12th time that Siegrist has garnered BIG EAST Player of the Week accolades in her Wildcat career which ties her with Louisville's Angel McCoughtry (2005-09) and Connecticut's Rebecca Lobo (1991-95) for the most player of the week honors in league history.

With the 81-55 win over La Salle, the Villanova Wildcats captured the 2022-23 Philadelphia Big 5 championship with a perfect 4-0 record. The four wins came at Penn (67-41) and at Temple (74-71) and home wins over Saint Joseph's (82-59) and La Salle (81-55). This is Villanova's 19th all-time Big 5 title.

Villanova has played nine of its first 13 games of the season away from home. The Wildcats are currently 5-0 in true road games, 3-1 at home and 2-2 in neutral site games. The five true road games are the second most among teams from the Power 5 conferences and the BIG EAST. Fellow BIG EAST member Creighton has played the most true road games at eight. Villanova will play three of its first four conference games on the road with back-to-back away contests this week at Marquette and at Xavier.

Siegrist has reached the 20-point mark in all 13 games this season, including reaching the 30-point mark on five occasions and is averaging 28.0 points per game for the year. Her lowest point total of the season was 21 in the season opener versus Marist and her best scoring performance of the year came in a 41-point effort against Temple. She currently ranks second in the country in scoring with the 28.0 points per game average.

Following the trip to Milwaukee, Villanova will travel to Cincinnati to take on the Xavier Musketeers on Sunday, Jan. 1. Tip time is scheduled for noon.  Â
