Women's Basketball Travels to No. 8 UConn Wednesday Night

Villanova will travel to Hartford, Conn., on Wednesday evening to take on the No. 8 Connecticut Huskies. The Wildcats enter play riding a seven-game winning streak with a 15-6 overall record and a 9-3 BIG EAST mark, while the Huskies are 15-4 overall and 9-0 in league play. Tip-off at the XL Center is set for 7 p.m.

Wednesday night's game at No. 8 Connecticut will be the third Top 25 opponent for Villanova this season. The Wildcats are 1-1 against ranked teams, including an 88-67 loss at No. 4 Maryland and a 56-52 home win over No. 23 Oregon State.

Villanova has played 17 games all-time at the XL Center and are 7-10 in those 17 contests. Of the 17 games, 16 were part of the Big East Tournament. The Wildcats are 0-2 all-time
versus Connecticut at the XL Center (92-49 loss on Feb. 24, 2007; 72-42
loss in 2009 semifinals of BE Tourney).

The Wildcats will play at Connecticut for the first time since the 2012-13 season when the Wildcats and Huskies meet on Wednesday night. The Wildcats last trip to Connecticut came on Jan. 29, 2013, when Connecticut tallied a 76-43 victory. That game was played at Gampel Pavilion.

For her efforts in two games last week, junior Maddy Siegrist was named the BIG EAST Player of the Week.  In two wins over St. John's and Georgetown, Siegrist averaged 33.0 points per game and 10.5 rebounds per contest, while shooting .675 from the field.

Siegrist is coming off three consecutive 30-point efforts. After tallying 30 points against Xavier, Siegrist registered 34 points in last Friday's win at St. John's and 32 points against Georgetown on Sunday. Siegrist leads the BIG EAST with six 30-point efforts this season and she now has 14 career 30-point games.

Villanova will return to action on Friday, Feb. 11, when the Wildcats play host to the Marquette Golden Eagles. Tip-off at the Finneran Pavilion is set for 7 p.m.
