Villanova will travel to Ann Arbor, Michigan this weekend to play in the 2022 NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament. The Wildcats are the 11 seed in the Wichita Region and will play the No. 6 seed Brigham Young Cougars on Saturday, March 19 at 1 p.m., at Crisler Arena. The Wildcats will be making their 12
th all-time NCAA Tournament appearance and first since 2018. In its 19 NCAA Tournament games, Villanova has tallied an 8-11 record. With a victory over Brigham Young, the Wildcats will advance to the second round on Monday and take on the winner of the Michigan/American game.

When Villanova plays BYU in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on Saturday, it will have been 12 days since the Wildcats played a game. Villanova's last outing came in the championship game of the Big East Tournament on Monday, March 7.

Saturday's game against BYU will be just the second all-time meeting between the Wildcats and Cougars. In the first match-up between the schools, Villanova tallied a 61-58 win in the first round of the University of Maine Dead River Tip-off Classic on Dec. 1, 1995. Current Wildcat head coach

Villanova will play at Crisler Arena for the second time in its history when the Wildcats play there this weekend in the NCAA Tournament. In the team's first trip to Ann Arbor, Villanova lost to Michigan by a score of 65-61 in the semifinal round of the 2017 WNIT on March 29, 2017. Â

Dillon will be coaching in her second NCAA Tournament when the Wildcats face BYU on Saturday afternoon. Dillon led the Drexel University Dragons to the 2009 NCAA Tournament where they lost to Kansas State (68-44) in the first round in a game played in Manhattan, Kansas.

There are five teams in this year's NCAA Tournament that Villanova played during the regular season with the five being Princeton, Creighton, DePaul, Maryland and Connecticut. The Wildcats went 3-5 versus these five opponents. (Creighton 1-1, DePaul 1-1, UConn 1-1, Maryland 0-1, Princeton 0-1).

Maddy Siegrist was named a third team Associated Press All-American. Siegrist earns the honor for her efforts this year after averaging 25.9 points per game (second in nation) and 9.5 rebounds per contest, while shooting .498 from the field.
