Golf Set to Compete in the Columbia Spring Invitational

On Monday, the Villanova golf team will compete in the Columbia Spring Invitational at the Rolling Green Golf Club in Springfield, Pa. The Wildcats will be one of 11 competing teams in the one day tournament, on the par-70, 6,670 yard course. 

Six Wildcats will be participating in Springfield, including Peter Weaver, Matthew Copeland, Noah Peck, Matt Davis, Matt Minerva, and Vimal Alokam. Also competing Monday are Danny Dougherty and Jack O'Hara who will be playing at the Knights Spring Invite, hosted by Arcadia at Cedarbrook Country Club in Blue Bell, Pa. 

Weaver took home medalist honors last week at the Golden Horseshoe Intercollegiate in Williamsburg, Va, for his second collegiate title. The sophomore shot a 54-hole total of a 1-over 214. He was even par going into the final round. Weaver had the second highest total of pars (36) and birdies (9) in the tournament. The Wildcats took fifth place in the team standings at 905 (+53).

Other institutions playing on Monday include: Bryant, host Columbia, Drexel, Fordham, Iona, Lafayette, Lehigh, Monmouth, Saint Joseph's and Saint Peter's. 

Villanova will tee off from the first hole at 9 a.m. Monday, paired with the Drexel Dragons and the Columbia Lions.
