UNCASVILLE, CONN. -- The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame today announced the field of teams for the ninth annual Invesco QQQ Basketball Hall of Fame Women's Showcase on December 18 at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn. The doubleheader will feature Villanova versus Iowa State and Connecticut against Florida State.
 
"Growing the game is extremely important to us at the Connecticut Sun, and being able to support and amplify amazing college women's basketball programs is an honor," said Jen Rizzotti, President of the Connecticut Sun. "We're excited to welcome back UConn and Villanova to the Mohegan Sun arena and introduce new teams and fans to the place we call home. Villanova is coming off a 2021-22 season that saw the Wildcat register a 24-9 overall record and a 15-4 BIG EAST Conference mark which was good enough for a second place in the final league standings. Villanova earned an at large bid to the NCAA Tournament where they advanced to the second round.
 
The Wildcats are led by star forward Maddy Siegrist who earned BIG EAST Player of the Year and third team All-American honors last season after averaging 25.3 points per game and 9.2 rebounds per contest. The scoring average ranked her second in the country in points per game.
 
Iowa State finished last season with a 28-7 overall record and a 14-4 Big 12 mark. The Cyclones defeated UT Arlington and Georgia in the first and second rounds of the NCAA Tournament, before falling to Creighton in the Sweet 16.
