NEW YORK – Villanova University senior forward
Maddy Siegrist (Poughkeepsie,
N.Y.) has been named the BIG EAST Player of the Week. She earns the honor for her play in two wins last week versus Georgetown and Butler.
With today's recognition, Siegrist has garnered conference player of the week honors a BIG EAST record 13 times. She breaks the mark formerly held by Connecticut's Rebecca Lobo (1991-95) and Louisville's Angel McCoughtry (2005-09) who each won the award on 12 occasions.
In the two victories last week, Siegrist average 32.5 points per game and 11.5 rebounds per contest, while shooting .553 from the field. After a 29-point, 10 rebound effort against Georgetown, she had 36 points and 13 rebounds versus Butler.
Siegrist currently leads the country in scoring at 28.5 points per game. She is also averaging 9.7 rebounds per contest and is shooting .530 from the field (178-336).
The 14-3 Wildcats return to action on Wednesday, Jan. 11, with a road game at DePaul.
