PHILADELPHIA, Pa.—Villanova was defeated by Temple on Friday afternoon by a score of 4-0. The Wildcats drop to fourth in the BIG EAST with one game remaining in conference play.
Temple dominated every statistical category as they outshot Villanova 22-2 and tallied 14 penalty corners to the Wildcats' four. Villanova recorded just one shot in the first half as Temple converted three penalty corners to take a 3-0 lead into the halftime break.
Villanova's first shot on goal came in the third quarter when
Sabine de Ruijter's shot was saved off a penalty corner. Temple added another goal in the period to make the final score 4-0.
Gemma Lysaght recorded her second defensive save of the season in the loss. Freshman goalkeeper
Maddi Sears recorded four second half saves.
Devin Kinzel led the Owls with two goals. Villanova returns to action on Sunday, October 22
nd when they take on Drexel. Game time is set for 3 p.m.
