VILLANOVA, Pa.—Villanova men's lacrosse head coach
Mike Corrado has announced the schedule for the upcoming 2024 season. The Wildcats will play 14 total games including six inside Villanova Stadium.
The season begins on February 10th when the 'Cats travel to State College to take on Penn State. Villanova is looking to capture its third straight season opening win over the Nittany Lions who fell one goal short of a national championship appearance a season ago. The 'Cats will travel north the following week to New Haven, Connecticut where they face Yale on the 17th. The Bulldogs finished last season ranked No.11 in the nation after falling to Georgetown in the NCAA Tournament.
The home opener at Villanova Stadium is set for February 24th at noon when the 'Cats take on Colgate out of the Patriot League. It will mark the first meeting between the sides since 2005.
Villanova will play seven games in March, its most in a calendar month since 2019, beginning with a pair of local stints at Lehigh (March 2) and Drexel (March 5) before returning home for two Saturday afternoon affairs against Penn and Monmouth on the 9th and 16th. The non-conference schedule concludes with away games at Navy on March 19th and Brown on the 25th.
BIG EAST play begins at Villanova Stadium on March 30th when the Wildcats host Denver in a semifinal rematch. The Pioneers defeated Villanova 16-9 to advance to the BIG EAST championship game a season ago.
Conference play continues throughout the month of April with a home game against Providence on April 6
th before two road stints at St. Johns on April 13th and Marquette on the 20
th.
The regular season concludes with a Friday night game under the lights of Villanova Stadium against Georgetown on April 26th at 7 p.m. The Hoyas defeated the 'Cats 12-8 last season in route to a BIG EAST regular season and tournament championship.
The BIG EAST Tournament will be held on May 2-4 at Villanova Stadium. It marks the first time since 2018 Villanova will host the conference tournament.
