Villanova Hosts Princeton Monday

Villanova returns to the Finneran Pavilion on Monday night to play host to the Princeton Tigers. Both teams enter play with identical 6-3 records. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
 
The Wildcats will be playing their third Ivy League opponent in the last four games with the match-up against Princeton. The stretch began with a 77-75 loss at Columbia on Dec. 3, and continued with a 68-62 home win over Penn on Dec. 5. In the history of the program, the Wildcats have registered a 70-12 (.853) all-time record against teams from the Ivy League. The 70-12 record includes 47-3versus Penn, 13-7 against Princeton, 3-0 versus Harvard, 2-0 against Dartmouth, 2-1 versus Brown, 1-1 against Columbia and 1-0 against both Cornell and Yale.
 
Entering play versus Princeton on Monday night, the Wildcats have won 28 of their last 30 home games. Villanova captured 11 straight home contests to finish the 2021-22 season and were 13-2 at home last year. The Wildcats are currently 4-0 at home this season. Under fourth-year head coach Denise Dillon, the Wildcats are 36-7 (.837) in games played at the Finneran Pavilion.
 
Following Monday's game with Princeton, Villanova will not play at home again until hosting Xavier on Dec. 30. The Wildcats will play at St. John's on Dec. 16 and at La Salle on Dec. 21 before the holiday break.
 
Junior guard Lucy Olsen turned in her fourth 30- point scoring game of the year, including three in the last four contests at Saint Joseph's on Saturday night. In the loss to the Hawks, she had 32 points on 11-of-23 shooting, including a 4-of-9 effort from three-point range. The four triples tie a career-high. She was also 6-of-8 from the foul line. Her 30+ point efforts this year include 40 vs. Temple, 30 against Richmond, 33 vs. Columbia and 32 vs. Saint Joseph's.
 
In the latest NCAA statistics, Olsen ranks third in the country in scoring at 25.3 points per game. Iowa's Caitlyn Clark leads in scoring at 29.6 points per game and Juju Watkins from USC is second at 27.3 points per game. After nine games, Olsen has scored 228 points for an average of 25.3 points per contest. She is currently shooting 47.4 percent from the field (83-of-175), 37.5 percent from three-point range (18-of-48) and .786 from the foul line (44-of-56). She has seven 20-point games this year and now has 12 for her career. Olsen also has four, 30-point performances this season.
 
Junior center Christina Dalce has registered a double-double in three of the last four games. Her latest effort came at Saint Joseph's on Saturday when she tallied 15 points and 11 rebounds. In the previous game against Penn, she scored a career-high 18 points to go
with 17 rebounds. For the year, she is averaging 10.6 points per game and 12.0 rebounds per contest.

Villanova hits the road on Saturday to open-up BIG EAST Conference play versus St. John's at Madison Square Garden. Game time is set for 6 p.m.
