EAST MEADOW, N.Y. – Villanova had five Wildcats compete in Championship Finals on Friday night during day three of the BIG EAST Championships at the Nassau County Aquatic Center.
The Wildcats are fourth in the team standings with 316 points. Georgetown, Xavier and Seton Hall still lead the pack with just 46.5 points separating the three teams.
Nolan Danus and
Henry Halloran made the 400 IM A Final, finishing in fifth (3:54.91) and eighth (3:58.51), respectively. Halloran's time marked a new personal best, resetting his time as the fifth-fastest performer in team hsitory with the sixth-fastest time.
Aubrey Bowles reset his personal best twice throughout the day with a 4:01.04 in the morning prelims and a 3:59.51 in the Consolation Final. He won the B Final while maintaining his position as the program's eighth-fastest 400 IM performer.
Reid Hutcherson and
Charlie Hinckley represented Villanova in the 200 Free Championship Finals. Hutcherson touched sixth in 1:39.27, taking nearly five-tenths of a second off of his prelim time. Hinckley was eighth in 1:39.66.
A slew of five 'Cats made the 100 Fly Consolation Final with
Kevin Geist and
Ryan Maher leading them in 10
th (49.54) and 11
th (49.79), respectively.
Richard Nolan and
Henry Halloran finished in the middle of the pack in the 100 Breast B Final. Nolan was 12
th with a time of 57.18 while Halloran tagged the wall in 57.68.
Alex Hamill was the lone Wildcat in the 100 Back Consolation Final. He matched his personal best time of 50.45 that earned him second in the heat and a spot in the record book as the eighth-fastest performer. He was 10
th overall in the evening after going 50.85 in the morning.
Nicholas Jubilee made it to the 3-meter championship final on Friday after posting a 274.90 score in the morning. He stayed in eighth by the end of the finals, finishing with a 532.35 score.
The final event of the day saw Hamill, Halloran, Geist and
Patrick Hemingway finish fifth in the 400 Medley Relay at 3:24.53.
Saturday brings the 1650 Free, 200 Back, 100 Free, 200 Breast, 200 Fly and the 400 Free Relay. Prelims start at 10 a.m. with diving at 1 p.m. and finals beginning at 5:45 p.m.
