EAST MEADOW, N.Y. – Villanova wrapped up its week at the 2023 BIG EAST Swimming and Diving Championships on Saturday with a fourth-place finish.
The 'Cats totaled a trio of top-three finishes on the week, scoring 464 total points. Nolan Daus had the team's lone silver while
Nicholas Jubilee and
Jake McIntyre each had bronze performances. The group had numerous record book moves in the final day, including a 1650 free that saw three Wildcats make substantial moves.
McIntyre swam for bronze in the 1650 Free, touching with a 15:18.08 that now sits as the second-fastest time in Villanova history. Each of the four fastest swimmers in the event notches NCAA B-cut times with each one posting sub 15:20.00 times. With his time finish, the senior now owns seven of the top-10 times in program history.
Charlie Hinckley and
Aubrey Bowles also caused record movement. Hinckley finished fifth in 15:29, setting a new personal best with the fifth-fastest time in school history. As for Bowles, he was ninth in 15:46.70 with his best time at Villanova and a mark that made him the fifth-fastest 1650 Free performer.
Later on,
Nolan Danus posted the second-fastest 200 Fly in Villanova history. His 1:47.93 was good enough for fifth. HE now has three of the program's top-five times.
With a 1:49.46 in the 200 Back, freshman
Alex Hamill became the eighth-fastest performer.
Richard Nolan knocked down the sixth-fastest time in school history for the 200 Breast, touching in 2:01.82 to take seventh in the evening's championship final.
Georgetown clinched the repeat on Saturday, winning with 792 points. Xavier was second with 781 points while Seton Hall was third with 721.5.
