FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Ten Villanova swimmers made their way to the Sunshine State this week to take part in the YR Pro Swim Series at the Fort Lauderdale Aquatic Center. The group left the event with five finalists in seven events.
The four-day event lasted from March 1-4 at the newly re-furbished venue with 50-meter competition pool. The field of competitors consisted of well-over 400 swimmers including Olympic champions Katie Ledecky and Bobby Finke and numerous U.S. National Team members.
Katie White and
Nolan Danus were finalists in the 200m Fly on the first day of action. White was 13th (2:16.13) while Danus turned in a 24
th-place (2:06.86) finish. Maggie Kleinsmith tallied a 20
th-place (1:12.64) showing in the 100m Breast.
The second day brought three more finalists for the Blue and White. Kleinsmith turned in another top-24 showing, touching 17
th (33.12) in the 50m Breast.
Henry Halloran was 15
th (4:35.82) in the 400m IM with
Nolan Danus finishing behind him in 17
th (4:43.16).
Charlie Hinckley was the lone finalist in the final day of action. He went 18
th (8:21.37) in the 800m Free.
