VILLANOVA, Pa. –
Cam Whitmore (Odenton, Md./Archbishop Spalding High School) announced in a video conversation with Shams Charania today that he will enter the 2023 National Basketball Association Draft.
The 6-7 Whitmore was voted BIG EAST and Philadelphia Big Five Freshman of the Year in 2022-23 despite missing the season's first seven games after October surgery on his right (shooting) thumb. Whitmore appeared in 24 games and averaged 12.3 points and 5.3 rebounds per outing. He was tabbed BIG EAST Freshman of the Week four times.
"Cam is a uniquely gifted player who has an amazing opportunity before him to pursue his dream of playing in the NBA," stated Villanova head coach
Kyle Neptune. "As a basketball family, we're excited for Cam as he takes this next step in his journey and fully supportive of his decision."
Whitmore is projected as a first round selection by a range of scouring services.
