SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – Villanova scored 22 team points in three races on Friday at the CAA Championships to notch a fourth-place showing after racing on Fish Creek. Both the V8 and 2V8 recorded fourth-place finishes on the day.
Sheila Joyce and
Maggie Coyne, both racing with the V8 at the sixth and fourth seats respectively, landed All-CAA Team honors after the morning's events. This is the seventh consecutive championship where at least one Wildcat has been named to the list and the fifth time that a pair of 'Cats have been lauded.
Villanova's V4 team of
Gianna Zajac,
Cecilia Jenkins,
Sabrina Pauli,
Sofia Lopez, and
Kelechi Onuigbo started the day off for the 'Cats racing as the sixth seed. The Wildcats maintained that spot by the finish, crossing sixth in 9:20.324.
The 2V8 sixth-seed of
Madison Girard,
Madeline McCarthy,
Jadyn Ramos,
Julia Kreisl,
Alexandra Petrozzi,
Olivia Frizzell,
Jillian de Merlier,
Anna Flynn, and
Sarah Robillard landed fourth with a time of 7:54.412. Villanova's group ended up six seconds behind Delaware in that race with just over 14 seconds separating the top three.
In the V8 as the fourth seed,

Maggie Coyne,
Olivia Krause,
Sheila Joyce,
Kara Dempsey,
Isabella Thorne, and
Caroline Shea closed the day by landing just under 10 seconds shy of a third-place finish, taking fourth in 7:31.762.
Villanova finished seven points out of the top three with Northeastern winning the title for a ninth consecutive year after sweeping each race for a 42-point day. Drexel (36) and Delaware (29) rounded out the top three.
