NEW YORK – Villanova freshman guard Maddie Webber (Bridgeville, Pa.) has been named the BIG EAST Rookie of the Week. She earns the honor after averaging 19.0 points per game in two games last week.
 
Her best effort of the week came at Providence on Jan. 24, when she scored a team-high 20 points in an 82-76 overtime loss. In Sunday's win at DePaul, Webber made her second career start and tallied 18 points on 8-of-14 shooting to go with four assists.
 
She becomes the first Wildcat to garner BIG EAST Rookie of the Week accolades since Maddy Siegrist accomplished the feat 10 times during the 2019-20 season.
 
Webber has played in 18 games this year and ranks second on the team in both scoring at 9.3 points per game and three-point field goals made with 24.
 
Villanova returns to action on Wednesday, Jan. 31, when the No. 8 Connecticut Huskies visit the Finneran Pavilion. Game time is set for 6:30 p.m.
