NEW YORK – Sophomore goalkeeper
Maddi Sears has been named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll, the conference announced Tuesday (Oct. 15). It is Sears' second appearance on the weekly honor roll this season.
Sears held No.19-ranked Liberty to just one goal on Friday (Oct. 11). She saved three of four shots on goal and had many key defensive plays to keep the Flames out of the shooting circle.
The Avondale, Pa., native has posted two shutouts on the season, becoming the first Villanova goalkeeper to earn multiple shutouts in a season since Erika Miller in 2016.
Sears has limited opponents to one goal or less in eight of 13 games this season, and she is only giving up 1.85 goals per game, ranking in the top half of the BIG EAST. She has three or more saves in nine straight games.
Sears and the Wildcats are back in action on Friday (Oct. 18) in a key BIG EAST matchup against Old Dominion in Norfolk, Va. The game will be played at L.R. Hill Sports Complex with a scheduled start time of 3 p.m. ET.
