LONG BEACH, Calif. – For the first time in her career,
Myla McLeod has earned a place on Top Drawer Soccer's Team of the Week.
She is the second Wildcat to be recognized this season with fellow senior
Susanna Soderman landing a spot among the Honorable Mentions a week ago. McLeod's honor comes in a week when she recorded two points as Villanova went 1-0-1, playing in all 180 minutes of the team's back-to-back clean sheet results.
The defender opened Villanova's 3-0 win at Marquette on Thursday with the first goal of her career. She and the rest of the Wildcat backline held the Golden Eagles without a goal in their seven shot attempts with two on frame.
She was also a part of a Wildcat defense that shut down UConn's 25 shot attempts Sunday to keep five on goal in the 0-0 draw. Those clean sheets move Villanova to seven on the season, one shutout away from matching the 2019 squad's eight, the most for the program in the last 15 years.
Villanova plays its final home game of the regular season this Thursday as it hosts Georgetown at 3 p.m. inside Higgins Soccer Complex.
