De Ruijter Named to BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll After Historic Game

The fifth year forward scored a career-best four goals against Penn on Sunday

NEW YORK – Villanova fifth year forward Sabine de Ruijter was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll, the conference announced Tuesday (Oct. 8). It is de Ruijter's third weekly honor of the season.

De Ruijter scored a career-best four goals in Villanova's 5-1 win over Penn on Sunday (Oct. 6), tied for the most by any player in the BIG EAST this season. Scoring one of her goals off of a penalty stroke and the rest from penalty corners, she became just the 14th player in program history to reach the four-goal mark in a single game.

De Ruijter now has 12 goals on the season, the most in the BIG EAST and tied for third most in the nation. Her 26 points are tied for sixth in Division-I and are also a conference best.

Additionally, de Ruijter surpassed 100 points on Sunday, becoming the sixth player in program history to reach the century mark. She ranks sixth in career goals (44) and points (103) in Villanova history.

De Ruijter and the Wildcats will return to Conshohocken to face No. 19-ranked Liberty on Friday (Oct. 11) at the Proving Grounds. The game will begin at 1 p.m. and will be streamed live on FloSports.
