VILLANOVA, Pa. – National Signing Day brings four new softball players to Villanova with Jacquelyn Cox, Aubrey Police, Katie Reed and Carly Zych each pledging to the Wildcats, forming a four-person signing class that will join the three-time conference champions next fall.

"We are always trying to get athletes who are ultimate competitors both on and off the field, and we are really excited about this signing class because they are passionate about the game and love to win," head coach Bridget Orchard said. "Aubrey, Carly, Jacquelyn and Katie will help us continue our success in the BIG EAST and look to bring our program to the next level nationally."

Arrowhead High School: Three-time all-state selection as a four-year varsity softball starter … Ranked second best outfielder in the Midwest and 28th nationally … Named one of four DI players to watch and a top 70 player in the state of Wisconsin … Won two conference and three district championships … Six-year leadoff hitter for VA Glory National – Gagliardi … Also a four-year varsity doubles starter in tennis … Earned four conference, three sectional and two state championships in tennis … Became the first student in her high school's history to enroll in seven AP classes during one year … Three-time academic high honor roll member and twice an AP Scholar. 

Personal: Born 11/21/06 … Only child of David Cox and Heidi Zeeb … Cousin David Cox played soccer at UW-Milwaukee as a midfielder from 2019-23 … Plans to major in biochemistry with the intent of attending medical school and becoming a neurosurgeon … Chose to attend Villanova for "the biochemistry major, research opportunities and strong community. Villanova will give me a chance to explore topics that are of great interest to me, and I am grateful for the opportunity Coach Orchard has given me."

Orchard on Cox: "Jacquelyn is a multi-sport athlete, winning championships in tennis and softball. She plays with an edge and has a ton of speed, has the ability to get on base in multiple ways and is always a threat on the basepaths. She will bring athleticism, power and speed to the team."

Personal: Born 2/26/07 … One of three children of Justin and Jessica Police … Has two siblings: Ethan and Bryson … Plans to major in biology … Chose to attend Villanova because "the first time I stepped on campus, I knew I wanted to go here. The campus is beautiful and it's a great academic school." 

Orchard on Police: "Aubrey is an athletic middle infielder who plays with passion and love for the game. She'll be a great addition to Nova Nation with a high softball IQ and an ultimate team player, a leadoff hitter who can hit for power and has speed on the bases. We are looking for Aubrey to come in and have an immediate impact."

Orchard on Reed: "We have watched Katie play for several years and we're excited to finally have her on the field next fall. She's one of the most versatile athletes we've seen, she can play anywhere on the field and is super athletic. She's played up at a high level nationally for many years, a top of the order hitter that had success swinging the bat against top pitchers. Katie will have a shot right away to compete for a starting spot."
