NEW YORK – Villanova forward
Sabine de Ruijter and goalkeeper
Maddi Sears each earned spots on the final BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll of the season, the conference announced Monday (Nov. 4).
De Ruijter scored two goals in a come-from-behind win over Providence on Friday (Nov. 1) -- including the game-winning penalty stroke in the third quarter -- to help Villanova end its season on a three-game win streak. The fifth-year from Huizen, The Netherlands capped off a year in which she led the BIG EAST in goals (15) and points (33).
The award is Sears' fourth straight weekly conference award, and fifth of the season. The sophomore from Avondale, Pa., made three saves on Friday to hold Providence scoreless in the second half and help Villanova complete a comeback win. It was Sears' 12th straight game with three-or-more saves to finish the season.
Overall, the Wildcats secured 13 weekly conference awards in the 2024 season, their most in program history since the BIG EAST started recognizing a weekly honor roll in 2006.
