VILLANOVA, Pa - Villanova men's swimming and diving team took home another win for the season as they hosted Providence. The Wildcats finished with 24 total top-three finished in their battle with the Friar, with the final score being 147-75.
The 'Cats started strong with efforts from all 400 medley relay teams. Team A claimed first with
Cole Gorsuch,
Wade Weston,
Melson Arquillano and
Patrick Hemingway swimming 3:27.03. Following behind in second was team B with efforts from
Max Christensen,
Mikey Thurk,
Henry Gingrich and
Gavin Peck who clocked a 3:29.40. The next quartet of
Carson Brockette,
Henry Halloran,
Sam Randall and
Josh Seidman swam 3:30.74, giving them third place.
Diving duo
Nicholas Jubilee and
Chris Jones were able to claim two of the top-three spots in the 1 meter dive against the Friar. Jubilee took first place scoring 285.22 and Jones grabbed third with a score of 271.35.
Freshman
Owen Nye continues his strong efforts in the 1000 free as he won first place with a time of 9:44.03. This is his fifth consecutive win in this race. Although he was not alone, Freshman
Theo Morse was close behind him in second place clocking in at 9:56.58. Rounding off the trio, was
Brady Tierney who claimed third touching the wall at 9:59.53.
Gavin Jones was able to achieve two first place finishes against the Friar. In the 200 free he swam 1:42.42. In the 200 back he was able to swim a 1:55.18. In the 200 back with Jones was Brockette (1:56.14) claiming second and Christensen (1:57.23) in third.
Justin Nowicki grabbed first place in the 200 IM with a time of 1:55.03. Christensen then grabbed second touching in at 1:56.50. Taking third was
Aiden Bunker clocking in at 1:56.86. Bunker was able to out swim everyone in the 200 breast, giving him first with a time of 2:12.68.
The 50 free was another very successful race for the Wildcats. Thurk led the trio taking first touching the wall at 21.34. Sutter was following in second with a time of 21.41. Hemingway was right behind him claiming third clocking 21.55.
Hemingway was also able to take second place in the 100 free with a time of 47.10. Sutter accompanied him in third place with his time of 47.42.
The 200 fly first place went to freshman Arquillano who swam 1:53.84.
Senior
Aubrey Bowles swam 4:53.16 in the 500 free, this time put him in first place. In third place with a time of 4:53.80, is Seidman.
The Wildcats are back in action November 20th as they travel to West Virgina for the WVU Invitation.
