PHILADELPHIA, Pa – Villanova men and women's swimming and diving each come home with a win after today's meet against La Salle. Villanova totaled 62 top-three finishes and 21 first place finishes. The women's team finished 202-96 over the Explorers and the men's team finished 173-127 over the Explorers.
Competing on the diving board, Nickolas Jubilee earned first place in the 3 meter dive, with a score of 332.05, scoring a new personal best. He also competed in the 1 meter dive where he placed second scoring 290.55. Jubilee was not alone,
Chris Jones placed third in the 3 meter with a score of 301.58.
On the women's side,
Michelle Kasulka took second in the 3 meter dive scoring 268.43 with
Meghan Scott behind her in third scoring 257.10. Kasulka also took second in the 1 meter dive with her score of 252.38
The men and women swept the 1000 free top-three spots.
Owen Nye earned his fourth consecutive win, swimming a 9:45.62.
Patrick Casey was following him with his time of 9:51.21 and
Theo Morse finished the trio with his time of 9:59.83.
Peri Gaguzis leads the trio for the women, grabbing first with her time of 10:27.48. Freshman
Riley Hull is behind her in second timing in at 10:34.54, and freshman
Sasha Schratwieser takes third with her time of 10:44.11.
Carlota Colomer was able to achieve first place in the 200 free, touching the wall at 1:53.92.
Marlene Blanke swam 1:54.70, putting her in second place.
Lexi Elkovitch grabbed third place with her time of 1:55.01. Freshman
Gavin Peck placed second for the men with his time of 1:43.39.
Arabella Lee took first place in the 100 back, clocking in at 58.00. Sophomore
Alyssa McHale took second swimming 59.54 and freshman
Rosie Keith was in third with her time of 59.97.
Josh Seidman took third (53.10) to represent the 'Cats in the 100 back.
McHale was also able to take third in the 100 free with a time of 54.00. In second was
Martina Lonati with her time of 53.40 and in first was
Lainey Quinones touching in at 52.76. For the men,
Patrick Hemingway finished first with a time of 47.10.
In the 100 fly Lonati finished third with her time of 57.16, while
Riley Kudlac finished second touching the wall at 57.12. First place goes to sophomore
Anna Farley swimming 56.77. Zach sutter took second with his time of 51.42 and behind him was
Justin Nowicki swimming 51.82.
Nowicki also achieved first place in the 200 fly clocking in a 1:51.67. Behind him was freshman
Melson Arquillano with his time of 1:54.72. on the women's side,
Katie White placed first place touching the wall at 2:04.19 with
Meghan Tiernan behind her, timing in at 2:06.28 and giving her second.
The Wildcats had another men and women sweep in the 500 free. Tiernan grabbing first with her time of 5:05.43 leading the trio. In second is
Amylia Higgins with her time of 5:06.57. and in third is
Pepper Ritchey clocking in at 5:11.45. Nye leads the men, taking first with his time of 4:46.32. Casey follows in second swimming 4:46.61 and
Gavin Jones finished the trio in third with his time of 4:52.82.
Freshman
Annie Honkamp swam 1:06.08 in the 100 breast helping her earn first place. She also placed first in the 200 IM with her time of 2:07.80.
Max Christensen took second place in the 200 IM swimming 1:56.62. Arquillano finished third with his time of 1:58.29. Christensen also took third in the 200 breast touching the wall at 2:09.09. Just ahead of him was
Wade Weston swimming a season-best 2:07.70. Weston also achieved second place in the 100 breast with his time of 57.96.
Mikey Thurk grabbed third clocking in at 2:06.28.
Kudlac out swam everyone and took first place in the 50 free swimming 24.22. Higgins was not far behind her taking third place with her time of 24.72. On the men's side, freshman
Kaden Elkovitch took first place clocking in at 21.54 and Sutter was right behind him at 21.55.
Winnie Jalet swam 2:20.44 helping her earn first place. Lee finished first in the 200 back touching the wall at 2:06.48. Farley was behind her in third clocking 2:09.05.
Senior
Aubrey Bowles raced to finish first in the 200 back touching the wall at 1:54.15.
Carson Brockette accompanies him in third place after swimming 1:55.90.
Villanova had two relays teams place first. In the 200 medley relay the quartet of Lee, Colomer, McHale and Kudlac, helped team A finish on top with 1:45.73. Finishing first in the 200 free relay was Thurk, Sutter, Hemingway and Elkovitch, making a time of 1:23.92.
The men are back in the pool as they host Providence at the Villanova Swim Complex on Saturday at 6:30.
