PHILADELPHIA – For the second time in less than a month, Villanova midfielder Susanna Soderman has been lauded for academic work, landing a spot on the Philly-SIDA Academic All-Area team on Tuesday.

The team is voted on by the sports information offices of 30 institutions from the Philadelphia metropolitan area. Nominated student-athletes must be in at least their second year at their current institution and carry at least a 3.30 GPA.

This is the third consecutive season that Villanova has been represented on the local ledger with 20 selections since 2005. The senior is now the 11^th Wildcat to be honored in that time.

Soderman earned Academic All-District honors last month from the College Sport Communicators and was named an All-BIG EAST First Team selection at the end of the season. Her first team All-Conference laurel marked the first for the program since 2019. The chemical engineering major led Villanova in overall scoring this season, netting seven goals with three assists for 17 points to be the highest-scoring Wildcat for a single season in the Azem era of the program. She finished seventh in the BIG EAST in goals and points, averaging 0.94 points per game. She landed 18 of her 33 shot attempts on frame for a .545 shot on goal percentage.

The Schwenksville, Pa. native had a pair of substantial scoring runs this season, accounting for at least a point in three consecutive games. The first such run came early in the nonconference slate, having an assist, a goal and another assist in wins over Temple, Penn and Jacksonville, respectively. Later in conference play, the senior scored four goals in three games, helping the team to a pair of draws with DePaul and St. John's before a 3-0 road win at Marquette. She was one of three Wildcats this season to score a brace in a game. Soderman picked up two weekly accolades this season, earning a spot on the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll and a Top Drawer Soccer Team of the Week Honorable Mention.
