NEW YORK – The BIG EAST Conference today announced its weekly award winners and Wildcat freshman guard
Jasmine Bascoe (Milton, Ontario) was named the league's Rookie of the Week. Bascoe earns the honor after averaging 19.0 points per game and 5.5 assists per contest in two games last week.
Her best effort of the week came at Saint Joseph's on Sunday, Dec. 1, when she scored a game-high 26 points to go with four assists and four rebounds. Her 26 points came on 10-of-16 shooting from the field, including a 3-of-3 effort from three-point range. She was also 3-of-4 from the foul line.
Bascoe leads the Wildcats in scoring (15.4 ppg.), assists (37) and steals (15). She has reached double figures in points in seven of the first eight games of the season.
Villanova returns to action on Friday, Dec. 6, when the Wildcats take on Temple for the Philadelphia Big 5 championship as part of the Big 5 Women's Classic to be held at Villanova's Finneran Pavilion.
