VILLANOVA, Pa.—The signing class for the Villanova Football Class of 2028 continued to take shape on Wednesday as head coach
Mark Ferrante announced the addition of four scholastic players to join the 14 signees who were previously announced in December. The latest players to sign National Letters of Intent with the Wildcats are defensive back
Damill Bostic Jr. (DC – Archbishop Carroll); tight end
Sean Brodnik (PA – Haverford School); linebacker
Omari Bursey (CO – Broomfield HS); and wide receiver
Ralee Stephens (NJ – Asbury Park HS). Each of the four signees will join Villanova for the 2024 season.
Ferrante and the Wildcats coaching staff have laid a foundation for consistent success on the recruiting trail by combining a national outlook with the ability to keep top talent close to home for their collegiate careers. That trend remains true with the 2024 class, as Brodnik becomes the fourth in-state player from Pennsylvania while the additions of Bostic Jr. and Stephens give Villanova 13 incoming players from the Eastern seaboard.
Bursey is the first Colorado native the Wildcats have signed in several years and is the ninth different state in addition to the District of Columbia represented in this year's recruiting class. Villanova has inked four scholastic players each from Pennsylvania and New Jersey, two from Maryland and Virginia, and one each from California, Colorado, Connecticut, the District of Columbia, Massachusetts and New York.
The accolades for the signees announced on Wednesday afternoon were impressive as the Wildcats continued to build their roster for next season.
Bostic Jr. was a two-time all-conference cornerback at Archbishop Carroll (D.C.) High School and did not have a touchdown scored on him during his senior season. He also excelled on the track and was part of three high school national champion relays teams, including twice in the 4x100 meter relay and once in the 4x200 relay. He owns personal best times of 10.73 in the 100 meter dash and 21.95 in the 200 meters.
Brodnik garnered all-conference and all-county accolades as a tight end at the Haverford School near to the Villanova campus. His scholastic statistics included 23 receptions for 400 yards and four touchdowns.
Bursey was a first team all-state selection in Colorado and a two-time first team all-conference performer. He set his high school's single-season record with 99 tackles, including 10 sacks, and was named the team's MVP. Bursey was a three-time first team Academic All-State honoree and was named the
Athletics & Beyond Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
Stephens was a three-time first team All-Shore selection at Asbury Park (N.J.) High School and was named a third team all-state selection. A four-year team captain, he amassed 2,869 career all-purpose yards and 33 touchdowns. As a senior he rushed for 763 yards and 15 scores while passing for 337 yards and five touchdowns. Stephens also had three interceptions and three forced fumbles on defense. He was timed at 6.95 in the 55 meter dash and owns a personal best mark of 6.15 meters in the long jump.
In choosing to continue their football careers at Villanova, this group of signees is joining a Wildcats program that has won two CAA Football titles in the last three years. Villanova went 10-3 during the 2023 season and was the CAA automatic bid to the FCS playoffs where the Wildcats were the #8 overall seed and reached the quarterfinal round. It was the third postseason appearance in the last five seasons for Villanova, which had 12 players earn all-conference honors for the 2023 season. Villanova has had at least four all-conference honorees in 27 of the last 28 years and was one of three CAA schools to have at least a dozen players earn All-CAA accolades this season.
