Wildcats Take on Monmouth This Saturday

VILLANOVA, Pa. – Villanova (3-3) takes on Monmouth (3-3) this Saturday at Villanova Stadium. The Wildcats took last year's meeting 10-6 in Long Branch.

Villanova enters this matchup coming off a loss to No. 13 Penn last Saturday. LSM Stephen Zupicich was sensational, causing six turnovers and picking up five ground balls. The Ohio State transfer is tied for the most caused turnovers in the country with 18 and third in the nation with three per game. Justin Coppola went 17-22 on faceoff opportunities and recorded nine ground balls.

Monmouth suffered a tough home loss to Delaware last week and is looking to get back in the win column. Star freshman Brendan Dundas leads the Hawks with 13 goals on the season. He is one of three players with 15 points or more as Connor Macrae and Connor Gorman round out the Hawk attack with 33 combined points this season.

The Wildcats will have the edge in the faceoff department as they currently rank 11 in the country with a .600-win percentage and Monmouth is the middle of the pack with .469. Villanova will have to do a better job taking care of the ball as they currently rank in the bottom half of division one with 19 turnovers per game.

The all-time series between the 'Cats and Hawks is tied at 1-1 with Monmouth taking the first meeting in 2017. The opening faceoff is set for noon this Saturday at Villanova Stadium.
