Wildcats Host No. 11 Georgetown in BIG EAST Finale

VILLANOVA, Pa. – Villanova (8-5, 2-2) is set for the BIG EAST regular season finale against No. 11 Georgetown (9-3, 3-1). Both teams have clinched a berth in next week's BIG EAST Tournament and look to lock up the highest seed possible.

The Wildcats are on a two-game winning streak after taking down St. John's and Marquette the previous two games. A team effort propelled the 'Cats over Marquette last week as eight different players found the back of the net. Beau Kemler and Stephen Zupicich anchored the defensive effort, each causing two turnovers and picking up five ground balls.

Georgetown is fresh off a convincing 20-6 victory over St. John's last week. The five-time reigning BIG EAST champs eclipsed 20 goals for the second time this season as Graham Bundy Jr. recorded his fifth hat trick of the season to go along with two assists. Bundy is one of four Hoyas with 30 or more points on the season.

The Hoyas are one of the nation's most efficient offensive teams as they rank 11th in the NCAA with a .331 shot percentage. They also take great care of the ball ranking ninth in the nation with only 14.5 turnovers per game. The Hoya defense is equally impressive, allowing just nine goals per game.

This is the 42nd meeting all time between the storied programs with Georgetown holding a narrow 21-20 lead. The Wildcats are winless in their last nine games with the last victory coming at Georgetown in 2017.

Villanova can be as high as the #2 seed in next week's conference tournament with a win. A loss would lock them into the four slot with a date against top seeded Denver unless St. John's defeats Providence by three or less goals, then the Wildcats would be third. Georgetown would clinch the two seed with a win.

Friday's game is set for 7:00 p.m. at Villanova Stadium. Fans are encouraged to wear light blue to support the 'Cats.
