Volleyball Heads Abroad for European Tour

Team will train and play games while sightseeing across Slovenia and Italy

VILLANOVA, Pa. -- Villanova volleyball begins its trek to the Eastern Hemisphere on Sunday for a European Volleyball Tour, spending 10 days in the Mediterranean region in late June.

The Wildcats are taking part in a tour organized by Bring It Promotions, which has been running volleyball tours throughout Europe for over 25 years. Many of the days will feature friendly matches against foreign teams with opponents including national teams and local clubs, while non-match days will feature practices.

Villanova's trip begins in Slovenia, stationed in the country's second largest city of Maribor with excursions to popular tourist destinations Lake Bled and Pohorje Mountain.

The rest of the travel traverses Italy with three home cities and lots of sightseeing in addition to the on-court training and matches. The home bases include Venice, Milan and Rome with specific destinations including the Duomo, Colosseum, Vatican and Trevi fountain.

The Wildcats will also make shorter stops in Verona, Lake Como and Florence during their stint in Italy before wrapping up with multiple days in the Eternal City of Rome.
