VILLANOVA, Pa. – Bulgarian native Aleksandar Gavalyugov, 6-2, has signed a financial aid agreement to enroll at Villanova as a freshman this fall and play for the Villanova Wildcats. The guard is a graduate of the NBA Global Academy in Australia.

Kyle Neptune. "Aleksandar is a crafty, competitive lead guard with high level dribble, pass and shooting tools. At a young age, he has already excelled on the international stage and impacted winning. Our staff is looking forward to working with Aleksandar as he transitions to college basketball."
Gavalyugov, a native of Sofia, Bulgaria, most recently shined at the adidas EuroCamp, averaging 15.7 points, 5.0 rebounds and 6.3 assists per game. He also has extensive experience on the U18 level playing for Bulgaria in FIBA competition.
The 2024-25 Villanova roster now features four incoming freshmen. Alongside Gavalyugov in the class of 2024 will be forwards Matthew Hodge, Josiah Moseley, and Malcolm Thomas. The Wildcats also return holdovers
Eric Dixon,
Jordann Dumont (currently sidelined by recent hips surgery),
Jordan Longino, and
Nnanna Njoku along with four transfers (Enoch Boakye, Jhamir Brickus, Tyler Perkins, and Wooga Poplar.)
