VILLANOVA, Pa.—Some of the brightest stars who have worn the Villanova singlet will shine on a national stage as they compete in the U.S. Olympic Team Trials at Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore. over the next two weeks. Competition begins on Friday, June 21 and lasts through Sunday, June 30 with nightly coverage on NBC, USA and Peacock. Two members of the 2023-24 men's track & field roster – middle distance runners
Liam Murphy and
Sean Dolan – are among eight Wildcats past and present who will vie for the chance to represent the United States at the Paris Olympics later this summer.
Dolan will be competing in his second straight Olympic Team Trials and previously was a semifinalist in the 800 meters three years ago. He is qualified in that event again, while Murphy will make his Trials debut in the 1500 meters alongside former Villanova middle distance standout
Casey Comber. The other former Wildcats who will compete in Eugene are
McKenna Keegan in the 800 meters,
Angel Piccirillo in the 1500 meters,
Emily Lipari in the 10000 meters,
Lydia Olivere in the 3000 meter steeplechase and
Sanaä Barnes in the high jump.
Below are summaries of the athletes who have qualified to compete in Eugene along with the schedule of events and broadcast info for each round. The schedule is subject to change as qualifications for each successive round are determined.
MEN'S 800 METERS
Sean Dolan

Dolan previously reached the semifinal round of the 800 meters in 2021 after his first collegiate season on the track. Since that Trials debut three years ago, he has gone on to win six of his BIG EAST record seven conference titles in his signature event and has amassed three first team All-America honors. Dolan was the NCAA runner-up in the 800 meters indoors earlier this year and placed fifth in the NCAA final outdoors in his collegiate finale two weeks ago. He has twice broken 1:46 in the 800 meters and each of those races has come this season, first when he ran 1:45.83 in the BIG EAST final on May 11 and less than two weeks later when he was clocked in 1:45.89 in the national quarterfinal heats in Lexington, Ky.

Murphy has burst onto the national scene over the past two years in record-breaking fashion. With one year of collegiate eligibility remaining, Murphy is the absolute school record holder in the 3000 meters (7:42.51) and he holds indoor Villanova records in the mile (3:53.85) as well as the 5000 meters (13:21.20). During the 2023-24 academic year, Murphy was an All-American in cross country while adding first team All-America accolades indoors in the 3000 meters and second team honors outdoors in the 1500 meters. He owns a lifetime best mark of 3:36.48 in the 1500 meters set in April of this year and has broken 3:40 on three other occasions in 2024. Murphy has anchored three Championship of America titles at the Penn Relays over the last two seasons, including this year's 4xMile relay which recorded the second-fastest time in world history (15:51.91) while setting all-time collegiate, Penn Relays, BIG EAST and Villanova records.
Comber competed for the Wildcats from 2015-21 and was a five-time All-American to go along with winning nine BIG EAST titles and earning 13 career All-BIG EAST honors. He put a cap on his collegiate career by qualifying for the U.S. Olympic Team Trials in the 1500 meters in 2021 and he returns to the same event a second time this year. Comber was the NCAA indoor runner-up in the mile and an All-American across all three seasons (cross country, indoor, outdoor) while in college. As a junior in 2018, he became the Wildcats first men's runner since 1982 to anchor two winning relays (distance medley, 4xMile) in the same year at the Penn Relays. Comber now runs for Under Armour Mission Run Baltimore and owns a lifetime best mark of 3:34.24 in the 1500 meters which was set last year in France.
WOMEN'S 800 METERS
McKenna Keegan

Keegan ran in more than 100 races for Villanova during her collegiate career from 2016-22 and garnered seven career All-America honors to go along with eight BIG EAST titles and a dozen All-BIG EAST accolades. She was the NCAA runner-up in the 800 meters outdoors in her final collegiate race in 2022 and previously ran the third-fastest time in school history (2:01.25) a year earlier. Keegan is one of only two athletes in school history – men's or women's – to be named the USTFCCCA Mid-Atlantic Region Athlete of the Year at least four times. She is also one of three Villanova women to post top-three finishes in the 800 meters at the NCAA Championships both indoors and outdoors in the same year. Keegan debuted at the U.S. Olympic Team Trials in the 800 meters in 2021. She currently runs for NIKE / Nike Union Athletics Club and set a lifetime best of 1:59.93 in the 800 meters at the Portland Track Festival on June 9.
WOMEN'S HIGH JUMP
Sanaä Barnes
Qualifying: Saturday, June 22 (8:00 PM ET, 5:00 PM PT, Peacock)

Barnes was the first Villanova athlete to be an All-American in one of the jumps and she garnered five career All-America honors in the high jump for the Wildcats. She was also a three-time BIG EAST champion and set a then-school record when she jumped 1.87 meters in her U.S. Olympic Team Trials debut in 2021. Barnes has had success at the national and international levels, including her previous Olympic Trials experience as well as being the Pan-American U20 Championships gold medalist in the high jump in 2019. She is one of 15 women in Villanova history to own at least four career top-six finishes at the NCAA Championships and was the Wildcats first athlete to be named the Mid-Atlantic Region Field Athlete of the Year when she earned the honor for the 2022 outdoor season.
WOMEN'S 1500 METERS
Angel Piccirillo

Piccirillo set a collegiate women's record by being a part of nine Penn Relays titles during her Villanova career, which spanned from 2012-17 and featured numerous record-breaking performances. Piccirillo set an NCAA record in the 1000 meters (2:40.82) during the 2016 indoor season and also was the first women's athlete in school history to win career BIG EAST titles in the 800 meters, the 1000 meters and the mile. She was a nine-time All-American and an 11-time BIG EAST champion for the Wildcats while tallying two career top-eight NCAA finishes in the mile. Piccirillo currently runs for PUMA / Puma Elite Running and has a lifetime best of 4:05.32 in the 1500 meters which was set in August 2023 in Memphis, Tenn. She will be competing in her second career Olympic Trials after debuting in the 800 meters in 2021.
WOMEN'S 10000 METERS
Emily Lipari

Lipari was a two-time NCAA champion for Villanova who bookended her collegiate career by leading off the team's national champion distance medley relay in 2011 and then winning the indoor NCAA title in the mile as a senior in 2014. She was a 10-time All-American, a 14-time BIG EAST champion and a six-time Penn Relays champion for the Wildcats. Lipari was a member of the 2010 cross country national championship team and was a three-time Mid-Atlantic Region Athlete of the Year who earned that honor once each during the cross country, indoor and outdoor seasons. She was the BIG EAST Championships Outstanding Track Performer indoors in consecutive years in 2013 and 2014 while also being the 2014 and 2015 Philadelphia Sportswriters Association Frank Dolson Penn Relays Award winner. Lipari has had a long professional career and has been ranked in the top-50 worldwide in the 1500 meters, the 5000 meters and the 10000 meters at various times. She currently runs for adidas and owns a lifetime best mark of 31:19.72 in the 10000 meters which was set in California earlier this year.
WOMEN'S 3000 METER STEEPLECAHSE
Lydia Olivere

Olivere competed for Villanova from 2018-23 and is the school record holder in the 3000 meter steeplechase. She owns 10 of the 12 fastest times in school history, including her record of 9:49.88 which was set on June 12, 2021 in New York. Olivere qualified for the NCAA Championships in the steeplechase in 2023 and was a two-time All-American for the Wildcats in addition to winning four BIG EAST titles and earning 15 All-BIG EAST honors. She helped Villanova earn team berths to the NCAA Championships in cross country three times from 2018-21 and was an All-American for the 2019 season after also winning the BIG EAST and NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional titles earlier that year. In addition to being the school record holder in the steeplechase, Olivere ranked sixth in the Villanova record book in the 3000 meters (9:02.81) and 10
th indoors in the 5000 meters (16:13.50) when she graduated. She first competed ta the Olympic Trials in 2021. Olivere currently runs for Under Armour / Under Armour Mission Run Baltimore.
