VILLANOVA, Pa. – After a road-heavy slate last season, Villanova revealed its 2024 schedule that will keep the Wildcats at Higgins Soccer Complex for most of the season. The team will play 10 of its 18 games on the Main Line.
In head coach
Samar Azem's third season at the helm, Villanova looks to build off of a 4-7-7 season in 2023 that saw the group be one of the last 13 undefeated teams in the nation and the last remaining one in the BIG EAST, starting the season with nine consecutive unbeaten games.
The regular season opens with three consecutive home matches starting with a 4 p.m. tilt against James Madison on Thursday, August 15. The 'Cats then host Temple and Penn on August 18 and August 23, respectively.
Villanova's first road test of the season will send the crew down to the Sunshine State to close out August and open up September. The 'Cats will visit Jacksonville on August 29 for the first-ever meeting between the two teams and the head to Florida State on Sept. 1, the first meeting since 2019 and the second overall.
Wake Forest and Bucknell come to town for a pair of home contests in early September before the team hits the road for three straight games. The non-conference schedule ends at Cornell on Sept. 15, paving the way for BIG EAST road trips to Seton Hall (Sept. 22) and Creighton (Sept. 26).
A trio of conference home games kick off the back half of the schedule, starting with a Sunday contest against reigning BIG EAST regular season champion Xavier on Sept. 29. The month of October brings a balanced slate of home games and road trips. In that span, Villanova will host DePaul and St. John's, the team's Senior Day opponent on Oct. 13, before hitting the road to face Marquette. The season comes to a close with two final home matches against UConn and Georgetown, the 2023 BIG EAST Tournament champion, before two final road trips to Providence and Butler.
