Villanova University cornerback Isas Waxter (Newark, N.J.)  is one of 30 players named to the Buck Buchanan Award Preseason Watch List. The award will be presented after the season to the national defensive player of the year in Division I FCS college football.

The award is named for legendary defensive lineman Junious "Buck" Buchanan, who starred at Grambling State as part of his Hall of Fame career.

Waxter was one of the team's most dynamic defensive players a year ago and started all 13 games while recording 26 tackles, including four tackles for loss. He added three interceptions and eight pass breakups to his stat line and was part of a defense that ranked sixth nationally during the regular season by allowing just 290.2 total yards per game.

The Wildcats, who are the preseason pick to win the 2024 CAA championship, will open the season on Thursday, Aus. 29, when Youngstown State visits Villanova Stadium.
