Kotch’s Freshman of the Week Laurel Highlights Wildcats’ BIG EAST Weekly Plaudits

Morgan Kotch, Madison Shumate and Olivia Neal were all recognized

NEW YORK – Three Wildcats were recognized in the first batch of weekly honor from the BIG EAST on Monday afternoon. Morgan Kotch earned Freshman of the Week laurels while Madison Shumate and Olivia Neal were Honor Roll selections.
 
This is the first set of weekly honors for the trio who are all new to the Wildcat roster this season.
 
Kotch played a key role in Villanova's win over Temple on Sunday, netting two of the four goals scored by the 'Cats. Her first collegiate goal came in the 37th minute before netting the dagger in the 60th minute. The Yardville, N.J. native recorded five shots on the week with two on frame in 80 minutes of action.
 
Much like Kotch, Shumate also scored two goals on Sunday, notching her a spot on the Weekly Honor Roll. The Downingtown, Pa. native played a part in three of the four goals scored in that victory over the Owls, scoring a team-high five points for the week. The freshman had seven shot attempts in two games with four on frame.
 
Neal logged two points in the win over Temple, notching a team-high two assists on the week. The graduate defender from Wake Forest, N.C. played in 137 of the team's 180 minutes on the week.
