RICHMOND – CAA Football announced its weekly award winners on Monday afternoon with two Villanova Wildcats earning accolades. Senior linebacker Richie Kimmel (Holmes, Pa.) was named the league's Defensive Player of the Week, while redshirt freshman running back Isaiah Ragland (Alexandria, Va.) garnered Rookie of the Week distinction. Both helped Villanova to a season opening 24-17 win over No. 25 Youngstown State.
Kimmel tallied a career-high 10 tackles, recovered a fumble and sealed the victory for Villanova with an interception on the last drive of the game. He was one of three Wildcats to register double figures in tackles.
Making his first career start, Ragland recorded seven carries for 65 yards (9.3 yards per carry) and his first career touchdown.
The No. 5 Wildcats hit the road this week for a game at Colgate. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m.
